E-mail Setup

This tutorial shows how to set up your e-mail on Microsoft Outlook Express. Setup is virtually the same on all e-mail programs.

The information all e-mail programs require are listed below:

  • Your name
  • E-mail address you are creating (yourname@yourdomain.com)
  • Incoming POP (mail.yourdomain.com)
  • Outgoing POP (mail.yourdomain.com)
  • Username
  • Password

The first step in Outlook Express is to open the program and click on the tools button. When the tools menu pops up choose accounts.

This is the next window that will appear. Click on the mail tab and then click the Add button.

Enter the name you want to appear in you e-mails.

Now enter the e-mail address you are creating.

Next enter your incoming and outgoing POP servers, they are the same and are mail.yourdomainname.com.

Next enter your Account name (username) and password.

That's it. This screen will appear, click the finish button. If you have questions about the e-mail programs themselves look at the help sections and online tutorials.

One More Step!

1) Click Tools.

2) Click Accounts.

3) Highlight your account and click Properties.

4) Click the Servers tab.

5) Under Outgoing Mail Server check the box My Server requires authentication.

6) Click Apply.
